INDORAMA, HIGHCHEM EYE US$1 BILLION INVESTMENT IN BINTULU

BANGKOK, 14 September 2026 – Indorama Ventures, in collaboration with Highchem, is looking at a proposed investment in Bintulu estimated at US$1 billion.

The proposed investment is part of Sarawak’s efforts to utilise its gas resources to create high-value employment opportunities while supporting the development of a low-carbon petrochemical industry, particularly in Bintulu.

Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, said detailed discussions on the proposed investment would be held between Indorama and Sarawak Petchem to further develop the initiative.

A follow-up meeting involving the relevant parties is expected to take place in October during a conference in Bangkok, with Sarawak’s delegation to be led by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Energy and Environmental Sustainability), Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, together with representatives from Sarawak Petchem.
